Instagram Launches Edits, a New Mobile Video Editor

Instagram has introduced an editing app called Edits. Some editing options were already available within Instagram, but with Edits, more designs and creative ideas are now welcome!

First Impressions of Edits

The Edits app takes editing more seriously and professionally. Various channel options are available—for example, users can add both a song and their own voice and sync them.

Another update is the filing system. As mentioned, Edits takes a more professional approach, and this feature supports that idea. Users can save their work and continue later, allowing more time for creativity.

While the tool is owned by Instagram, it seamlessly integrates with the native Instagram app. Beyond that, it also provides statistics on content reach.

Edits Joins the Conversation Alongside CapCut in Video Editing

Edits is often compared to CapCut, TikTok’s video editor, as both fall under the same category of mobile video editing software.

Edits App Launching Soon

On the Apple Store, the expected release date is March 31, and the app will be available for download once launched. On the Google Play Store publishing date is listed as "coming soon."

For now, it is too early to predict how it will compete with other video editing apps. However, being an Instagram-owned app gives it strong promotional power, making it likely to gain a share of the mobile video editing market.

Alternatives to CapCut & Edits

While major apps like Instagram and TikTok offer built-in tools, other options like Canva and Adobe Express provide advanced media editing features as well.
